Dr. Kahabuka holds a bachelor’s degree in medicine from Muhimbili University, Tanzania (2005) and a PhD in Health Systems from Bergen University, Norway (2012). She has over seven years’ experience in Health Systems Research, particularly in areas of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent’s health. Since Jan 2013, Dr. Kahabuka has been working as a consultant for health systems research in Tanzania where she has been providing both technical and implementation support to various research activities and program evaluations, including at the national level. Dr. Kahabuka has strong skills and extensive experience in both the quantitative and qualitative research methods, and she is conversant with various statistical software’s such as SPSS, Epidata and Atlas ti. She has twelve publications (first author of six) in international journals. As the CEO & Lead Researcher, Dr. Kahabuka is responsible for providing overall research management and leadership for all the activities under CSK in line with the organization's vision, mission, & values. Dr. Kahabuka provides guidance and direction to all the other staff, including evaluating the work done and organizing for extra input from external experts where necessary.
Co-Founder, Managing Director & Senior Consultant
Salum Mshamu has a BSc. in Nursing from Muhimbili University (Tanzania), a master's degree in Public Health from Lund University (Sweden) and a postgraduate diploma in Clinical trials from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He has extensive experience in coordination of research projects, particularly clinical trials, including tightly regulated vaccine and drug trials. Some of the large studies that Mr. Salum has coordinated include, the RTSS Malaria Vaccine trial in Tanzania, a large neonatal vitamin A supplementation study sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO), the folic acid study in non-pregnant women of reproductive age sponsored by Helen Keller International (HKI), and vitamin D in progression of HIV study for HIV infected adults who are ready to start ART treatment. Previously, Mr. Salum has worked extensively with programs involving youths, including having served as a project officer for an HIV/AIDS prevention resource center (ISHI Project), under UMATI and as a project manager for the National HIV/AIDS Help line, under Tanzania Youth Alliance (TAYOA). Between 2013 and 2015, Mr. Salum has been providing both technical and implementation support to CSK activities on a part-time basis while working as an assistant lecturer at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Science (MUHAS). Starting Oct 2015, Mr. Salum resigned from his teaching position and is now a full-time staff at CSK Research Solutions as a senior researcher/consultant.
CSK comprises a pool of skilled senior and junior quantitative and qualitative researchers, data managers and field assistants who provide our clients with the needed support in a timely fashion. CSK as well comprises a pool of highly experienced part-time research assistants who support our data collection and management activities under strict organization's quality assurance systems. Whenever needed, CSK also organizes for additional technical support from senior consultants/experts in various fields in Tanzania to offer additional support to our clients.
Isabella Luhanga is a graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Dar es salaam, Tanzania. She has basic training in the fields of IT, research, statistics and entrepreneurship. Isabella started working for CSK in 2014 as a part-time research assistant and later on became a full-time staff. Having worked closely with the lead researcher (Dr. Kahabuka) as her personal assistant, Isabellah received thorough mentorship in various research areas and she now possesses strong research skills in the areas of field planning, supervision and data management.
Between 2010 and 2013, Isabella had worked with various organizations and companies in Tanzania including; 1) Push Mobile Media Company limited (2010), where she was involved in obtaining data from various regions and managing such data for use by the concerned clients; 2) Tanzania Alliance People's Organization (2011), where she coordinated a program aiming at improving awareness on social issues such as rape and HIV/AIDS, among special groups in the community, ; 3) North Mara Gold mine, Geita Gold Mine and Mererani where she worked as a research Assistant in a program aiming at determining economic and health impact of the mining activities in the mining communities.
Finance and Administrative Manager
Thabit Bombwe is a graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Zanzibar University, Tanzania. He has over 6 years’ experience in accounting and finance management having worked with both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations in Tanzania. He started working with CSK as a part-time financial analyst in 2015 and later on became a full-time staff. At CSK, Mr. Bombwe is responsible for the efficient running of CSK’s finance operations, effective management of human resources, IT and administrative systems.
Transport Officer / Driver
Mr. Makalanzi serves as a transport officer and driver at CSK. His main task is ensuring that all vehicles to be used for data collection activities are in a good shape and are available for field activities in timely manner. Mr. Makalanzi is as well responsible for providing overall supervision to all the other drivers during implementation of field and other activities.
